Roof Light :: Penfold

While it may sound as if it’s been culled from one of the dozen or so 70s outsider folk compilations you have stashed on your hard drive, it is not. The following slightly damaged, instrumental, guitar piece comes to us via UK’s Roof Light. This is “Penfold.”

  1. Hmmm, this is a hell of a lot better than you paint it to be. It does sound like a late 60’s/early 70’s folk record. Therin lies it’s magic. Refreshing to think this was made recently and played on ‘real’ instruments that require talent to play as opposed to just programming. Sounds like an oasis of calm amongst a desert of ‘Chillwave’ ‘Dubstep’ ‘Witch House’ and other blog friendly, mediocre electronica. More real instruments please!

  2. I agree with all of above, except that the ‘glitches’ and whatnot make me physically cringe (but not in a totally detrimental way). Reminds me too much of my Pentium 3 computer that couldn’t handle all my multitasking and Winamp tasks on those long, hot Summer days!
