The Lagniappe Sessions :: The Amazing (Tim Buckley / R.E.M.)

Lagniappe (la ·gniappe) noun ‘lan-ˌyap,’ — 1. An extra or unexpected gift or benefit. 2. Something given or obtained as a gratuity or bonus.

The Lagniappe Sessions return this week with  The Amazing. Comprised of members of Swedish psych-rock monsters, Dungen, the group just saw the stateside release of its second LP, Gentle Stream — a nine track textured glide through the past four decades of coast & canyon folk, pop and rock coupled with the pastoral side of Pink Floyd and the live fury of Crazy Horse. For their Lagniappe installment, the band concentrate on the mellow, taking on Tim Buckley’s “Morning Glory“, culled from the singer-songwriter’s eponymous 1968 compilation of John Peel sessions, and R.E.M.’s “Find The River“, found on the Athens group’s 1993 LP, Automatic For The People.

Note for those of you on the east coast: go see this band, now, on tour supporting Tame Impala…
