I acquired this 1977
Meters show in 2000 along with
the Showboat Lounge show that I posted in January. At the time — and this still may be the case — locating
quality live documents from the band’s heyday was no small feat.Actually, until a few years ago, even locating copies of their studio albums was an Indiana Jones like undertaking, be it CD or vinyl. Now most decent record stores have the catalog on compact disc, and the better vinyl shops have the original reissues on hand. What I’m getting at is: if you’re not already, it’s a great time to become a
Meters fan.
The below show was recorded in 1977 at NYC’s
The Bottomline, and it’s some deep New Orleans funk & soul. And I do mean funk, this shit is greasy — gets right under your fingernails funky. Humid, hot, sticky grooves. If you downloaded The Meters
Live at The Showboat Lounge, I would venture to say this show is a tad bit better. And, if you didn’t, you best get on it.

new site looks awesome, man.
I don’t wanna show myself as a clued up person, but your blogspot.com has a strong page rank. This moving will cause a falling because i know that i had same problem. New layout looks good, though.
I don’t think he’s too worried about a “falling”! Pretty sure a site this stellar will be fine.
Site looks great!
Thanks for this. Althought not from the same time period this show
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=19878
is also very very good.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I haven’t listened to this yet, but I am thrilled to find a Meters’ show from this period. I was fortunate to be an LSU student when they played quite a few shows in Baton Rouge and New Orleans and truly deserved the Rolling Stone Magazine appellation as the best bar band in America. Is it too much to hope for a bass solo during this set?
Word! The Bottom Line and The Meters are two of the best things ever. Hey Pocky Way is crazygonuts. Thank you sir.
Please repost – another Meters that I would like to get…
could you please repost this and the other Meters live?
Meters fan for years. I actually saw them in concert/new orleans 1990 mardi gras canal street theatre…smokin show. I’ve been searching for bottom line/showboat recordings for a while. Please Please Please repost. adam
Please help me find the missing MP3s for this show I’ve had on cassette since the early 90s in college.
