Orions Belte :: The Scenic Route

Like countless others, Norwegian trio Orions Belte were forced to conjure up new ways to reach audiences when 2020 capsized. Going beyond a simple livestream, Øyvind Blomstrøm (guitar), Chris Holm (bass), and Kim Åge Furuhaug (drums) devised a mini “tour” concept and dubbed it The Scenic Route. Five audience-free shows in five days, broadcasting live from unique western Norway locations. Among the distinctive spots were a cider farm in Hardanger, an 1880s hotel in Pensjonatand, and a small bakery in Vinje, where the property’s old storehouses double as campsites. They’ve documented the journey with photos and short clips, and more recently shared a full video performing “New Years Eve #2” during the adventure’s third stop atop a mountain in Fresvik called Mulakamben. The track, off their 2018 debut album Mint, is a thoughtful three minutes played amid a stunning natural backdrop (complete with bonus drone footage). Take a quick break and let it absorb. | k fortinksy
