Richmond Fontaine: Hardcore Troubadours

Richmond Fontaine’s latest release, The Fitzgerald, was an album I had ignored far too long. I have now remedied that. An acoustic downtrodden affair, The Fitzgerald spins tales of two-time losers trying to make it through the Reno, NV night, let alone the the day. Fantastic storytelling. If asked to describe the sound I would liken it to Nebraska-era Springsteen, latter-era Steve Earle, and Jay Farrar’s acoustic efforts. This album’s a grower…give it time.
