Prompted by an Amoeba Records clerk, my initial foray into Brendan Benson was 2005’s The Alternative To Love album. Like any album worth it’s salt, it piqued my curiosity to dealve into Benson’s back-catalog. Glad I did, as his previous 2002 album Lapalco is great as well.

Also of note, Benson is apparently slated to record an album with fellow Detroit native Jack White under the guise of “The Raconteurs.” While not a huge White Stripes fan, I very much enjoyed White’s production on Van Lear Rose — could be interesting collaboration to say the least.
