This indie-pop/twee mini-masterpiece is undoubtedly in many of your collections already. If not, well, it should be. While reading up on Isobel Campbell (see my infatuation with her latest album with Mark Lanegan) I learned that she is touring with (ex-Vaseline/ex-Eugenius) Eugene Kelly. The two also plan on collaborating on a studio project in the near future as well.
Many of us got turned onto The Vaselines in the early ’90s thanks to Kurt Cobain’s constant pimping of them in the press. His band also covered The Vaselines’ “Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam” during their Unplugged performance, but I digress.
I dug out my copy of The Way of the Vaselines, and it sounds as good or better than it did in 1992. Here are three tracks to sample you will undoubtedly recognize. You need this music in your life.
