  1. Wow! Thanks for posting this. In my opinion, R.E.M.’s I.R.S. output should be alongside the Beatles and Dylan in the rock canon. It’s a shame that more people don’t make it a point to hear the early albums. It’s really cool, also, that Peter slyly critiques U2 here — the opposite of the band’s latter-day admiration of them.

  2. Dude totally hating on U2…that’s why U2 is the biggest rock band in the world and R.E.M., well, just a moderately successful indie band.
