If it seems the late Fela Kuti is everywhere these days it’s because he is. He’s on Broadway with the Jay-Z/Will Smith produced musical Fela!, his entire (immense) discography is being reissued in grand fashion, and most recently Now Again Records have released Black Man’s Cry: The Inspiration of Fela Kuti. Available as both a hardbound book with CD and as a 4 10″ LP box set, Black Man’s Cry is as big on presentation as it is straight jams. Those who knew little about the man and his music before 2010, most likely will by the end of the year.

Related/Recommended: Last month we published Fela Kuti, Feliciano dos Santos, Afrobeat & Western Interpretation, a look into the music and legacy of Fela Kuti and then some. A highly recommended read.
