Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas :: Soundtrack (1977)

It’s the 14th of December. The egg nog is spiked, the Christmas tree is trimmed and Jim Henson’s 1977 holiday epic, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas, is streaming on Netflix. If you grew up in the 80s this really needs no further explanation.  Here is the unsanctioned soundtrack. Welcome to Frogtown Hollow.

  1. Emmett Otters Jug-Band Christmas is the greatest Christmas film (in my opinion) of all time. I grew up watching it every year as a kid, and just introduced it, this week, to my wife and son.

    “Closer Now Than Ever Before” is such an amazing song. ..uh, heart wrenching..

    Emmet Otter’s Jug Band were Jim Henson’s Grateful Dead-

    This is the best Christmas present!

  2. Wow. Thank you for doing this. I was thrilled to see this pop on Netflix, but you certainly went the extra mile – times 10. Christmas indeed.

    Thank you for doing this & welcome stranger!

  3. Go big or go home? Dude, you’ve gone XXL. Put that in the #thingsIlove(d)butforgotabout column. ps-please loose the persistant pop-up t-shirt add. Once is fine, but every link? We all gots bills but…

  4. THANK YOU!!! when this got released on dvd recently, my heart just exploded w/ joy, and now i have the soundtrack!

  5. Fantastic! I gave my favorite nephew the re-issie DVD this year for Christmas.. Thank You! Now I can burn the kiddo the soundtrack! Big Fun Family Entertainment.. They don’t make ’em like this anymore, sadly.. Fantastic Mr. Fox is great (an exception, surely) but it’s good to know some oldies from my childhood hold their own against the new-wave.. They could never air this on broadcast t.v. today.. No religious gospel tunes allowed.. Everything is so P.C… Shrek X-Mas, I mean, c’mon (taking the Christ out of Christmas.. Shameful!).. Thank You for bringing up great memories of watching this on HBO a long, long time ago (I’m 35!) I Feel Good.. I’m smiling
