While the record itself does not stray far from the gentle, twinkling shoegaze and desert highway blues of the band’s first two records, “I’ve Been Let Down” works as a gorgeous and infectious outlier of forlorn freight train blues. Lightly accompanied by acoustic guitar, harmonica, and an ever so subtle drum beat, Hope Sandoval sings of a stubborn resilience to heartbreak . . .
