Ronald Langestraat :: Searching

Shout out to the heads for the tip on Ronald Langestraat’s Searching. This 27-minute eccentric fusion / funk / lounge jewel was unearthed and released last November on South of North — 34 years after Langestraat cut it to a four-track tape recorder in his living room. The Dutch musician arranged and played every instrument (woodwinds, Moog, Rhodes and more) on all the songs you’ll hear, including highlights “In the Middle of the Night” and “Ready for Dancing.” Both transcendent cuts would glide effortlessly into any essential Mancuso playlist. But there’s more than dance-ready jams here; i.e. moody grooves, wild synths, and ace sax playing. Hit the dimmer, pour a highball, and let it ride. words / j steele
