Carlo Vinci, Jr. :: Piper Of Dreams

I got to know Danish expat Andreas Vingaard five or so years ago. Vingaard runs Frederiksberg Records, the label responsible for reissuing Carsten Meinert Kvartet’s 1968 lp, To You — an album which remains an absolute favorite recent-ish jazz find. A small operation run out of Brooklyn, Frederiksberg is judicious in both their output and what they put their energies toward. It’s worth noting, this is also the same label responsible for the Suzanne Menzel reissue, Goodbyes and Beginnings, which we highlighted last year.

Sometime in January a parcel appeared on my doorstep with Vingaard’s address listed as the sender. Inside was a record, sealed, yet clearly vintage. Which, it turns out, it was. Frederiksberg is bringing Carlo Vinci, Jr.’s 1979 lp, Piper Of Dreams, back into the light digitally, along with having unearthed a stash of deadstock LPs pressed upon its original release.
