Sotto voce: From the same dusty Case Logic binder that recently brought you Bob Marley & The Wailers @ The Record Plant, here are two shows of curve-flattening funk from 1977.
This first recording is culled from a 1977 New Orleans live radio broadcast, complete with an animated deejay popping in and out during the the show’s duration. Listening to it feels something like driving across Lake Pontchartrain after midnight with the windows rolled down. The beginning of “People Say” is particularly nasty. Next up, we find the Meters up north gigging at the fabled, defunct, Bottom Line in Greenwich Village, NYC. Mercy.
