During these strange times when our world feels like it’s been turned upside down, I’ve found comfort in listening to music that seems to draw its power from outside this world. Roots reggae is the music of the Rastafarian tradition. It speaks to the spiritual, political, and socially conscious message of God, called Jah by Rastafarians. I’ve included a range of roots stylings in this mix including the traditional, digital, and dub. The tracks all a bit on the darker side, both in lyrics and in sound, but I’ve found that the positive message still manages to shine through. | p cho
