Radio Free Aquarium Drunkard :: February 2022

Transmitting from the far side of the moon, it’s Radio Free Aquarium Drunkard on dublab, a four-hour freeform excursion airing every third Sunday of the month. In hour one, New Happy Gathering with Chad DePasquale, an offering of lovesick soul, psychedelic spirituals, moonlit doo-wop, and West African pop—a belated valentine wish equal parts spiritual, secular, and Sonafric. In hour two, Jason Woodbury‘s Range and Basin, a collection of gospel, ambient pop, washed out desert rock, and radiowave ephemera (listen for the special “Paul Is Dead” freakout). In hour three, Tyler Wilcox brings us Doom and Gloom From the Tomb, an inspired mix of Lou Reed rarities and oddities spanning from 1958 to 2011. And to close out, Christopher Smith of the Paradise of Bachelors label, braintrust, and soundsystem shares a wide ranging mix of sounds straight from vinyl. “Sweet are the oases in Sahara; charming the isle-groves of August prairies; delectable pure faith amidst a thousand perfidies: but sweeter, still more charming, most delectable, the dreamy Paradise of Bachelors …”
