Sole Inspiration :: Life

A ripping slice of late 60’s psychedelic Texas soul, Sole Inspiration’s “Life” is a Saturday night jam for Sunday morning sorrows. Recently dug up by Numero Group, the track bursts out the gate with a righteous organ that bellows across the holy blood cries of front man & songwriter Juan Gonzalez’s existential despair. A damaged, curling guitar enters the mix halfway through, as his thoughts turn more altruistic, and bends its way across the track. In the last verse, you can barely hear what he’s singing, the blisteringly raw and unrelenting roar of the organ waiting for his silence before taking on a more hushed tone to fade out on. Drums, unadorned but not without torment, bang along in hypnotic support of the sinister groove. | c depasquale
