For the second edition in our series of Good Trip mixtapes — a project that takes a closer look at our favorite sounds and rhythms from around the world — we’re picking up where Volume I left off in Peru, but with special attention paid to the diverse instrumentation and psych-laden effects employed in cumbia, huayno, chicha and beyond. This collection also features a healthy dose of reverb-soaked surf sounds, tropical organ and freaky synth riffs, along with one gritty, proto-punk garage rock tune record heads will definitely pick up on. So sit back, mix yourself a pisco sour and slip into a 90 minute groove to cap off a sun-drenched summer. words / s huff

I would love to a proper issue of the original Bat Chain Puller https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLalCFhRvXo
Also, would love to a vinyl reissue of Josh Abrams Natrual Information (it’s not that old but sadly out of print. I contacted Eremite last year but no plans to reissue on vinyl. Luckily it’s available on CD.)
Mix is great, thanks.

Would love a cassette version of this mix. Would love even more a reissue of Ian A. Anderson’s “A Vulture Is Not A Bird You Can Trust,” hopefully as part of a three-part series reissuing all of his LPs on The Village Thing.

Are you asking about South American groups? O there’s so many that need a proper reissue. If no, since I just updated the quality of this recording in my collection, I’d simply love to see The Wild Tchoupitoulas get a proper official repressing somehow 😉

Lole y Manuel – Nuevo dÃa
A record my parents used to listen to, that crossed my path again a few years ago and helped me to overcome the winter in Germany. The first one (but not the toughest) of all the winters that would come. The dictatorship had just ended in Spain and this record connected with hippies, rockers, youngsters and adults in the beginning of a new democracy.

I’d love to see a good reissue of Webster Lewis live at Club 7. Parts of his band apparently later played with Pharaoh Sanders. The record is like a hot summer night.
The gig took place in oslo in 71. About half of what was recorded was then released on vinyl in Norway, copies number in the hundreds and are WAY expensive.
There was a CD reissue in 96, and the second half of the recordings came out on vinyl in 07, but only about 500 copies on a norwegian jazz label(Plastic Strip).
There has never been a vinyl reissue of the original 1972 release.
