Letting Up Despite Great Faults :: EP

"Born in 2004 Los Angeles, CA: Letting Up Despite Great Faults -- Some have said that this music paints for them green hills and lush forests, while many have agreed that the songs are just simply beautiful. m.Lee deftly interweaves piano and guitar with intelligently sequenced patterns of electronic drums and analog sounds to form the beautiful and often picturesque organic/electronic sound that is Letting Up. In addition, there is a talented roster of players in this very unique . . .

Dream Syndicate :: The Days of Wine & Roses

This post is a little tardy, as I meant to get on it after reading medication a few weeks ago. The '01 re-issue of Dream Syndicate's The Days of Wine & Roses album has 7 bonus tracks -- all worth your time. This track has been on the radio to the right the past 10 days too if you want a sample before downloading. DOWNLOAD:

Galaxie 500 :: Peel Sessions 2005 Release

Not the first Galaxie 500 posting here at the Drunkard, but this is the first topical Galaxie 500 post. By that I mean Galaxie 500's Peel Sessions will see an official release date November 14, 2005 -- eight tracks spanning the groups '89 & '90 sessions recorded for the BBC's Radio One John Peel Show. A must-have for completists. Below are two cuts of the disc, both thoughtful eclectic covers. DOWNLOAD:MP3: become a member or log in.

If I Could Only Remember My Name….

Crosby in 1970. This was his finest hour -- his first solo album. Contributing guests include: Jerry Garcia, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Phil Lesh, Graham Nash, etc etc. If you too enjoy this album, drop me a comment. I think it's fantastic....loose, creative...embodies the early '70s in California perfectly.DOWNLOAD:MP3:

James Booker :: Montreux Bootleg 1978

I uploaded this rare 1978 bootleg recording from the Montreux Jazz Festival for a friend yesterday...thought you all may be interested as well. I have several live albums from this New Orleans piano master, and this is by far the best. Booker plays along with a loose pick-up band backing him. Spiders on keys, indeed. Album is zipped in a WinRar file...follow link below. DOWNLOAD:MP3: become a member or log in.

The Bright Black Morning Light

Brightblack is made up of longtime friends and musical partners Naybob and Raybob -- two Alabama ex-pats now living in the woods of Humboldt County, CA. The duo's indie-americana-folk stylings were taken notice by Will Oldham ,who subsequently recorded two split/EPs, and has toured with brightblack on four occasions. Expect brightblack's first Matador

HAM1 :: Via Athens, GA

As a former Athens resident I try (from the west coast) to keep to keep up with the pulse of the local scene and support new artists. HAM1 is no exception. Under his stage name, local schoolteacher Jim Willingham has recently self-released his first album, but he would rather you have it for free. A novel idea, no? Backed by a crew of esteemed townie musicians (members of OTC, Ballard Lesseman, etc . . .
