Tonight I went and saw, the Jonathan Demme directed, Neil Young: Heart of Gold Movie . Filmed in Nashville at the famed Ryman auditorium, it was a fine way to kick off his latest album with an incredible band backing him (some players going back 35 years.) I will be purchasing this soundtrack as soon as possible, but in the meantime, here is a track off 2005's become a member or log in.
This is as close as I got to seeing The Undertow Orchestra, but it's a damn fine consolation prize. Topaz brings his shit from NYC by way of Austin. This Texas native at first glance looks more like a rootsy guitar slinger than a sax-man, that is, until you hear him blow. I stumbled upon this album in 2001 knowing nothing about Topaz or what kind of music he played...I think someone sent the become a member or log in.
