Wow...I just got back from the ridiculousness that is the Tarantino/Rodriguez campfest Grindhouse. I've had the Death Proof soundtrack for about a week, and thought (as usual) that become a member or log in.

As a child of the '80s, it's my job to love '90s indie rock. Therefore it's no surprise I like the Muggabears current brand of, hell, I guess one would call it "retro '90s indie rock." I don't know much about these folks except that they are midwestern transplants living in NYC who probably really dig on Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, and {list your favorite guitar driven, experimental '90s rock outfit here}.

Last Tuesday night, while driving west on Sunset from Los Feliz through Hollywood, en route to see Magnolia Electric Co. open for Son Volt, I listened to The Pixies debut EP Come On Pilgrim, in it's entirety, for the first time in years. As mentioned earlier, I was pretty ecstatic when "Get It On" and "No Pussy Blues" surfaced on the Internets earlier in the year. It was as if Nick Cave hopped in a time machine and set the gears for 1982. Super raunchy. Shortly afterwards I received an advance of the LP and have been thoroughly digging since.

Last December, a few days before catching a flight back east for the holidays, I received a package in the mail from the Tandemoro "Mikes" (Mike Schanzlin & Mike Griffin). In it, was a photo of them sitting a bar, looking appropriately holiday-forlorn, wearing complimentary natty '80s Christmas sweaters, and a CD that said "Merry Christmas from Mike & Mike."
